This coming March marks the two-year anniversary of us encountering a pandemic none of us have ever seen. This past two years has been an improvisation and adaptation and I am proud of how Kairali has faced the challenges of this year with determination and hope. Kudos to President Sabeena Nazar and her team!

Kairali of Baltimore 2021: A Year to Remember!

We must also acknowledge the loss and lament of this past year. There is almost no part of our lives, both as an organization and as individuals, which remains untouched by the pandemic. We have been forced to mourn deaths of our loved ones and care for loved ones in ways that simply don’t feel adequate.

Much remains uncertain about the months to come, yet there is cause for hope. We are a people of resilience, continue to keep in touch and get together online, even as we eagerly anticipate the Christmas and New Year Celebrations. Even during the year of the pandemic, Kairali can be proud of, making a real impact in our community. Kairali, had activities throughout last year, bringing the community together. This includes Kairali Conversations, 5K Walk, Onam, Eid, Picnic, Souvenir Magazine, and several others.

COVID-19 hit us hard and knocked us down a few times, but we have always gotten back up. We are still standing. The end of the pandemic may not yet be near, but it is within sight. We will tell our children and grandchildren what it was like to live through this time. I hope at least part of the story you tell will be that you worked with people that helped make a difference. Kairali made a huge difference with the many activities that brings all of us together. Thank you for being part of the Kairali family. Please know how grateful we all should be; we are stronger because of our fellowship and resilience. Thanks to President Sabeena Nazar and her entire committee for all the work they have done!

Thanks to the generous donations, especially from IANAM members. We were able to collect $1,000 and fulfill 100% of the wish list from the shelter.
