Kairali Women’s Forum and the youth members went to volunteer at My Brother’s Keeper on a Saturday in February, 2017. My Brother’s Keeper is a soup kitchen on Frederick Road in Catonsville. The kitchen is open for the underprivileged every weekend. They did everything including purchasing supplies, cooking the meals and serving it to about 60 people which was almost 6 hours of service.

Many Kairali members participated in the Nurses Day celebration of the Indian American Nurses Association of Maryland Nurses on May 13,2017 at Seton Keough High School in Baltimore. It was a celebration in honor of many nurses who save lives every day. IANAM was just formed last year and have already done many activities in these few months. Many Kairali members are also members of IANAM. It was a fun event and there were fun activities for the kids too.
Kairali is constantly striving to bring Malayalee’s together at different venues such as sports, cultural activities and at the same time showcase ourselves as a positive energy in the community especially in today’s changing political climate and challenging times. No matter what field we work in, every one of us has the responsibility to reflect our values, integrity, and efficiency as Indians as well as Malayalees. This will help portray ourselves as a desirable community in this diverse country, thus ensuring an amicable world in US for our future generation. Let’s not forget the hard work of our previous generations and committee members. Kairali is also looking forward to expanding its activities together with other cultural and professional Indian organizations in USA such as KAGW, KCS, IANAM etc.
I would like to thank the committee members for the following planned activities for the year and request each one of you in Baltimore to continue to support us in staying together as a strong community and participate in these events.
